Preparing and Working for Arcata
Interview Preparation
If a member of our Human Resources team contacts you to schedule an interview for one of our open positions, keep the following tips in mind to get ready for your in-person or telephone interview.
Arcata Interview Prep Tips
- Do your research.
Explore our website and the latest media moments to learn about who we are and what we do. That way, your interview can be focused on you and the skills you bring to the job.
- Do prepare some questions for us.
We like our first meeting with you to be interactive, so come prepared to ask about an aspect of the company or the position you’re considering.
Do prepare to discuss your qualifications.
How do you meet or exceed the technical qualifications of your intended position? We’d also love to hear about your soft skills, such as your oral and written communication skills, your commitment to working well with others, taking responsibility for your work assignments and your reliability.
- Do dress professionally.
If you’re interviewing in-person or virtually, business attire is the most appropriate choice for our first meeting.
- Do remember the secure nature of work at Arcata
Due to the nature of our role supporting DoD, NASA, and other high security projects, we abide by all federal regulations required to obtain security clearance for our employees – Including U.S. citizenship, no criminal conduct or drug (including cannabis) consumption, and other factors.
Preparing for your security clearance at Arcata
Many of our positions require that you obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance. Our Facility Security Officer will work through the process with you if you are selected to fill a position with a clearance requirement.
- Take your time on the security clearance forms and answer all questions thoroughly and accurately
- Examine relevant documents in advance
- Complete pre-employment security requirements in a timely manner
- Remain patient during the security clearance process
Passing a background investigation is also a condition of your employment with Arcata. This investigation includes information concerning your past employment, your formal education, and criminal background reports.
Arcata supports a drug-free environment (including cannabis) in accordance with Federal Laws. If you accept an employment offer with Arcata, you must successfully complete pre-employment drug testing prior to beginning employment with us.
